Sights that Hurt and Visions that Heal

Over the course of several years, Jan Thrope took photographs from the perspective of children, teens and adults who were living in the urban core of Cleveland. Through her camera’s viewfinder she saw the cumulative effect that despairing images have on everyone. When she began to see through the eyes of visionary residents, she saw the anecdote to despair. With her camera focused on hope, she found an abundance of Cleveland residents who are over-flowing with positive ideas and are engaging in creative projects that are improving neighborhoods.
